7th and 8th Grade Classroom Expectations

WELCOME!

Welcome to another exciting school year! This class will dive into various English skills/concepts to help prepare students for 8th grade and high school as well as to help them navigate successfully throughout their current academic school year.  We will thoroughly practice and fine tune the students writing abilities.  Both 7th and 8th grade English courses integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening into thematic units. Students focus on the writer's craft and purpose. In addition, students read a variety of genres: nonfiction, drama, poetry, short stories, and novels. Please contact me if you need any assistance before or after school, or during my planning period. I look forward to a great year!

RULES

1. Be seated in your chair and ready to learn.

2. Be prepared for class. (all supplies and assignments)

3. Be respectful of others. Social studies topics can make for good discussion, and everyone's

opinion is valuable. DO NOT interrupt others while they are speaking, especially teachers!

4. Respect all materials within the classroom.

MAKE-UP WORK

There will be a red pocket chart labeled “Makeup Work” by my desk.  If a student is absent or misses class for any reason, then it is the student’s responsibility to pick up any missing work from the red pocket chart promptly and turn it in the next class period.  Deadlines for submission of make-up work can be flexible based on individual situations.
